Since the ending of our first public playtest we have been working very hard across all departments to complete work and updates based on all of the feedback we had received. Although you wont be able to enjoy these updates until some time in February, these are just some of the features you will be able to enjoy once we are happy with the state of our game and are ready for the next public playtest.
After working through the large amounts of feedback we were given these are all the details for changes being made to bring our game into version 0.6. although this game is still in an alpha state, this is going to be our biggest update for a very long time, pushing what would normally be around 3 months of scraping ideas together and figuring out how to make them functional into a 2 week time frame. Here are the changes being made to bring Corruption of Arcana 0.6:
Thoth Updates
Added NPC Placeholder for a trader in future updates
Added lights to the market to brighten the area
Added more decorations around the market and the east side of town
Added compass marker to the market area
Adjusted lighting in the scene to remove hard shadows
Added very light morning fog
Added icons above the heads of Mama R & Lt Hiérophante to make it easier to spot them in the scene
Added icons above the heads of enemies you encounter in Thoth
Replaced some placeholder items with tents
The player currently cannot enter any tent
East Forest Clearing Updates
Added more trees to better hide certain details of the map
Added signs to better direct players in the correct direction through the forest
Combat Updates
Combat system overhaul
Status effects are now active on cards
Certain enemies are weaker to different elements
NEW CARDS
Spell cards have been renamed and revamped to fit more into the tarot theme of the game. This means new abilities, elements and status effects. Keep an eye out for powerful hidden cards
Different cards now show different visuals remarks as to who they damage
Added Gold and potion sprites to the reward screens
Resized the Not Enough Arcana Points popup to fit over both spell cards
This will change to 1 popup per card later on in development
Replaced old grayed out forest background with new field art
This will change per battle to match the local 3D environment later in development
Changed the font and colour of enemies names to better stand contrast against the field backdrop
General Updates
Increased the speed text appears during dialogue to speed up talking to NPC's with longer dialogue exchanges
This will later change to a feature in the settings menu so you can set the speed yourself
Changes the font of characters names and general text to match the theme of all other text in the game
Changed the colour of standard text in dialogue to help players read text better against the parchment back plate
Added the feature of a quick escape from menus, such as Inventory and pause menus
Players can now press the same button to open and close a menu
Changed the sprite for Lt Hiérophante to differ his look from Taro
Changed the sprite for The Lady of the Lake
